Requesting a Commission: Final Guidelines

Time

It'll take me an average of one to five weeks to complete your commission, depending on life circumstances, other commissions that came before yours, and, of course, the length you've requested. I'll do my best to give regular (but not stiflingly often) updates on my progress and also notify you of any deviations from this timeframe as soon as I identify them.

Requesting Commissions

I'll have you answer a Google form so you can put in the basic details of your commission, as well as your preferred mode of communication. I'd like to keep in contact with you throughout the whole process and will do so using the social media handles you provide. Please remember that by placing a commission, you automatically agree to all my terms and conditions listed in each service's respective info pages, and you also agree to credit me when posting [about] the product I have provided you. If ever you find any of my terms unfair or dissatisfactory, you may send me a friendly suggestion on any of my social media accounts.

Additionally, you also acknowledge that I do NOT consent to my work being used as data to train any Artificial Intelligences and agree that if I do find that you’ve used my services for such, or that you have violated any other conditions I've written down, I am allowed to take action against you.

Writing Commission Info
STATUS: Closed

If you commission me for Writing, that means I’ll be writing something for you from scratch. This is limited to only original or fanfiction (prose only). Of course, if you do commission me to bring your original idea to life, it goes without saying that we both will give credit where it’s due: your ideas are yours (I won’t claim them, I swear), and my execution is mine.

My Writing

For the clearest perspective of what my writing is like, here's my AO3 Profile and my blog! Do note that works that I posted, say, in 2017 are not as indicative of what my writing is like now, but still, close enough.

What I Can Write

My AO3 only has samples for Haikyuu!! and Genshin Impact, but I can write for a multitude of fandoms, all of which are listed here. Original content is acceptable as well, but you'd have to clue me in on the basics of the story. For perspectives, I can do first, second, and third person. Works that include the reader are fine as well.

What I Will Not Write

Explicit smut/porn. Implied sexual content is fine.
Rape, incest, underage, pedophilia. Even implied. Especially if they're framed as acceptable.
Abuse and domestic violence wherein the abuser is an important character and not a narrative device.
A/B/O AUs of any kind.
Nonfiction.
Anything that you will claim as yours (I am not a ghost writer).
Anything involving real people (i.e., celebrities, musicians, people you or I know personally, etc.)

Rates

I will charge based on the number of words. Additional charges may apply, however, if, for example, additional study has to be done (e.g., I'm not familiar with the fandom, etc.).
All payments will be made via PayPal or Ko-fi. I'll require that half of the agreed-upon amount (or half of the minimum of the range you choose if you don't have a specific count in mind) be paid before I start writing. You can choose to pay in full upfront as well.
Also, rest assured, if I deviate from the word count that you set, I will not be charging for it. However, I do reserve the right to negotiate the word count if I feel that your chosen one is not suitable for the idea you've provided. We can work it out together!
After you've received the piece I've written, I will allow you to request minor changes within 48 hours of your confirmation of receipt, hopefully stuff that I can modify within 48 hours as well. No extra payments will be charged for this either. I will, however, charge for major changes and changes you request outside of the window of time I've given.

Copyediting / Beta Reading Commission Info
STATUS: Open

If you commission me for Copyediting, it means you have a written document that does not classify as creative writing (no fiction, poetry, etc.) that you would like for me to look over. Copyediting, by my and the company I work for’s standards at least, includes proofreading, a review of the content and structure of the document, determination of appropriateness to the file type, accuracy of any illustrations (i.e., tables and graphs), and fact-checking. I will be editing the document directly, but also tracking my changes for you to finalize yourself.

Now, if you commission me for Beta Reading, here’s where the creative work comes in—original or fanfiction, prose or poetry, the works. What I’m going to do for this service is something like a crossover between line edits and developmental editing: I will review your work line by line and check it for coherence, style, and clarity, and make comments on the structure, plot, characters, and other details. It’ll be a mix of me editing your file directly for the spelling/grammatical issues as well as me just leaving suggestions for you to consider yourself. Again, I will be tracking my changes so they are easily identifiable from your original work.

My Copyediting / Beta Reading

Unfortunately, I can’t supply you with samples of documents I copyedited because I work for a company that insists all files are confidential, but you can check out my portfolio for the zines I’ve worked as a writing moderator for, as well as this story by an informal client of mine!

What I Will and Won’t Copyedit / Beta Read

I'll edit any kind of written document. I only have one condition: it must be something that you wrote personally, or something someone—a living, breathing person—gave you consent to have edited. I do not and will not condone plagiarism or even usage of Artificial Intelligence (AI) when it comes to writing things, so please only send in your own work. Sending something in on behalf of a friend is all right too, provided you can prove they consented to it.

Rates

I will charge a fixed rate for Copyediting and a different fixed rate for Beta Reading, as shown below.
All payments will be made via PayPal or Ko-fi. I’ll require that half of the agreed-upon amount be paid before I start editing. You can choose to pay in full upfront as well.
I may also offer discounts depending on the actual amount of work I had to do when editing your writing. However, I will not tolerate any sort of abuse of this little bonus. I will be the one to decide whether a discount will happen or not; please do not ask or beg me for it, or even subtly imply that you deserve one. I will only be inclined to cut off communication if you do.

Translation Commission Info
STATUS: Open

If you commission for me for Translation, it can go a number of ways. My chosen languges are English, Tagalog (the Metro Manila variant), and Japanese, so all you have to do is pick a source language, i.e., the language that the document, etc., is already in, and a target language, i.e., the language you want to translate it to, among these three. Aside from that, if what you’re having me translate is a song, you have the option to ask me to tailor-fit it to the music, such that the translation I provide will fit the melody of the song and can therefore still be sang without messing up the rhythm. I’ll call this a Musical/Lyrical Translation, as opposed to the General kind.

My Translations

I’ve done a number of public Japanese to English translations, which you can view here, but I’ve done a lot more in private, both in terms of General and Musical translations in various source and target languages. If you’d like a preview of that, please do message me, and I’ll send you some samples.

What I Will and Won’t Translate

For all kinds of translations, I will require you to specifically identify who created the source material. If it’s a song, tell me the artist. If it’s an article, send me the original link. If it’s someone else’s creative writing, send me the link and inform me of any intention you might have to post my translation on the web. If it’s for posting, I will require you to prove that the original creator consented to this.
You can request for the localization of minor things, such as units of measurement, currencies, etc., when you avail of this service. I will not, however, entertain complete localization requests that will change the content/meaning of your source material.

Rates

The rates for different kinds of translations and languages involved are as follows. Do note that for translations with Japanese as the source language, the price will be per character instead of words, and that the character/word count relevant to the pricing is that of the source text and NOT the end product. Also, in the event that the Japanese source text contains some English words, the y won't count as characters or words; I will not be charging for them.

Extra localization requests for, again, minor things will come with the cost of the translation as well. No additional charges.
